Farm Fresh Coordinator

La Semilla Food Center is seeking a motivated self-starter with a keen eye for detail. The Farm Fresh Coordinator will support administration, packing, organizing, distribution, and cleaning to ensure efficient procurement and delivery of regional produce and to cultivate growth in the regional food system. Farm Fresh is one of several La Semilla programs serving to advance a socially equitable and economically viable regional food system. Farm Fresh works to cultivate markets for regional farmers, increasing equitable access to high quality, affordable, culturally appropriate produce, and positively impacting the local food economy. We are seeking someone that sees growing food and healthy communities as a tool for social transformation.

Farm Education Coordinator

La Semilla Food Center is seeking a detail oriented and driven individual to support and grow La Semilla Community Farm as a space for social and ecological transformation. La Semilla Community Farm is one of several La Semilla programs serving to advance a socially equitable and economically viable regional food system. The Farm is aimed at advancing agroecological practices that heal and nourish soil, plants and communities, increasing equitable access to high quality, affordable, culturally appropriate produce, and positively impacting the local food economy. The Farm Education Coordinator will understand the many ways in which farm education is a tool for direct action, resistance, and co-creation and will create pathways for teaching and education that embodies that creativity.

Mobile Toolkit and Technical Assistance Coordinator

La Semilla Food Center is seeking a detail oriented and driven individual to support and grow La Semilla’s farmer services as a means for social and ecological transformation. La Semilla Community Farm and Farm Fresh are two of several La Semilla programs serving to advance a socially equitable and economically viable regional food system. The Farm is aimed at advancing agroecological practices that heal and nourish soil, plants and communities, and Farm Fresh works to cultivate markets for regional farmers. Both work towards increasing equitable access to high quality, affordable, culturally appropriate produce, and positively impacting the local food economy. The Mobile Toolkit and Technical Assistance Coordinator will coordinate the use of La Semilla’s mobile toolkit by beginning farmers in the region and identify TA needs at local farms.

FoodCorps Service Member

La Semilla is hiring for a FoodCorps Service Member! FoodCorps, an arm of the national service program Americorps, has a position open within La Semilla’s Edible Education Program. This is an excellent opportunity for community members who have experience in, or are interested in learning about gardening, cooking, teaching, and food systems.

La Semilla’s FoodCorps Service Members will be placed with a local middle or elementary school where they will build relationships, support teachers in implementing school garden and food education, and support an afterschool club that combines gardening, cooking, and food justice curriculum. Additionally, FoodCorps Service Members will support all aspects of the Edible Education Program including teacher and community workshops, school garden beautification days, and the GROW Afterschool program. 

Benefits of service in New Mexico include:

– $33,000 Living Stipend (Dispersed Bi-weekly)

– $7,395 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award after serving 1700 hours

Call for Creatives

La Semilla Food Center is looking to expand our working list of local writers (essayists, poets, etc.) and visual artists (photographers, videographers, illustrators, etc.) interested in telling the stories of how people in our region are engaging with land and food traditions. Please note that this is NOT a call for a specific contract position. Rather, we are building a list of locally based creatives (within the Paso del Norte Region, encompassing Anthony, NM, El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and immediate surrounding areas) for future paid opportunities.
